Sheriff’s Office releases 2025 annual report
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has released its 2025 annual report, which shows significant increases in inmate population, court cases and concealed carry weapon permit renewals.
The average daily inmate population jumped from 289 in 2024 to 345 in 2025, a 19% increase. It’s a 38% increase from 2023. Despite that, inmate vs. inmate assaults decreased by 9%, and inmate vs. staff assaults decreased 73%.
Court cases at which deputies had to serve as bailiffs went up 11% to 71,156, and concealed carry weapons permit renewals increased 57% to 318.
The 2025 annual report also includes new information about employee benefits, drone usage, fleet and the Honor Guard that has not been in previous reports.
These are some of the many statistics and accomplishments available in the report. From budget allocation to reported crimes in the County to staffing statistics, the report provides a transparent look into all aspects of the Sheriff’s Office, including those that aren’t often in the public eye like the Transportation and Professional Standards units.
